Situated 100 yards from Street farm House is Newchurch House Restaurant which is open for lunches and evening meals from Wednesday to Sunday. A short drive away are three village pubs offering good food at affordable prices: The White Horse at Bilsington; the Walnut Tree at Aldington and The Bell at Ivychurch.

Miniature railway

A great attraction locally is the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch railway, which is the world's smallest miniature public railway. It operates daily from Easter to September and covers an area of the Romney Marsh from Hythe to Dungeness.


The scenic region of Dungeness has unique flora and fauna and a collection of interesting houses, some of which are converted from railway carriages. You can also visit the lighthouse on the headland, which was built in 1961.


Camber Sands offers a beautiful sandy beach with dunes behind and the quaint little town of Dymchurch www.dymchurchonline has a fairground and good beaches for swimming.

Towns of interest

The town of Hythe has an historic military canal which offers boating facilities in the summer and the ancient town of Rye, with its cobbled streets and very old buildings, is a must for visitors to enjoy.


Also on the doorstep is Port Lympne wild animal park open all year round and home to over 50 species of the world's most exotic and endangered animals.

Castles and Cathedrals

Further afield is the historic town of Canterbury with its beautiful cathedral and Dover with its ancient castle provide interesting days out.
